Salem’s Important Issues
A Word From Chuck
Dear fellow Salem resident,
I believe Salem is a fantastic community that is safe, clean, well managed and with an open government looking to the future. As I saw recently on a bumper sticker: Keep Salem Awesome!
Our economy is growing. For the past 8 years as a city councilor I have been directly involved in bringing hundreds of new, well-paid jobs to Salem. Construction is underway to meet historically high housing, commercial and industrial demand.
Our downtown is a gem of historic building reuse and new retail and office buildings. We are seeing new retail, restaurant, and cultural venues throughout the city at the same time our housing remains affordable and accessible to the average Salem wage earner.
I have worked directly to open the library on Sunday, reopen closed fire stations in north and west Salem, bring railroad quiet zones to our two rail lines, open bridges connecting three of our largest parks, and live within our means on the budget committee.
I hope you will review my background and look at the work I have done over the decades in this community. I am committed to seeing our community move forward to the benefit of all our citizens. It would be an honor to serve as your mayor.
